What could be possible if you focus your efforts on growing your business (or other projects)? In episode 80 I interviewed Tony and Alisa DiLorenzo about starting a podcast that is listened to by millions later in life. I had three lessons that I wanted to share with you about what they did to get where they are now and some of the secrets to their success.

Lesson 1: Give Focus to the project you want to grow.

In their case it was their podcast, but at one point (about 5 years in) they needed to decide if they wanted to grow the podcast into a business or continue their focus on other business pursuits. They decided to go all in and the business has flourished!

Lesson 2: Just because you build it doesn’t mean they will come.

As business owners, we sometimes convince ourselves that if we create a product, course or offer that we are going to sell thousands of them on day one. Only to find out that we sell maybe 10 or 50 of them. Do not let this deter you, keep going, keep making more offers, look at the whole customer journey and see how you can move them along with different offers and price points. Just don’t give up!

Lesson 3: Identify and appreciate your partners (or teams) strengths

Alisa said she was married to her favorite obstacle. Take the time to identify people’s strengths and passions and, when possible, create work that favors those. By focusing your efforts on this you might find that you can avoid some tension and move forward more quickly.

Tune in to learn more about my top takeaways from Tony and Alisa DiLorenzo.
