In episode 19, I talked to Bernie Borges about starting his podcast, Midlife Fulfilled, which he started during his midlife season. And part of my fulfillment in my midlife has also been starting this podcast, so I wanted to share with you the top tools I found when I was launching this show.
Here is a glimpse at the episode:
Tool 1: A website – whether you want to include your podcast as part of your existing website or you want to have a separate website it is a good idea to have a home for your podcast content.
Tool 2: Podcast hosting provider – you will need a place for your audio files to live. Additionally, the right podcast hosting site will distribute your podcast to all the major streaming sites.
Tool 3: Recording equipment. You will need a microphone (and possibility a boom). If you are doing a video podcast you will need a good camera too.
Tool 4: Recording Software – this decision will be based on the type of podcast you plan to create. Will you use video and audio, audio only? Will you be interviewing guests or is it a solo podcast? All of these choices will help you to determine the best software to use when recording your podcast.
Tool 5: Editing Software – Similar to the recording software this decision will also be based on the type of podcast you are creating. Do you need to edit video? Edit Audio? Do you want to have a transcript? These choices will help you focus on the best software choices for you.
Tool 6: Education – If you have never run a podcast before spend some time educating yourself on best practices for launching a successful podcast.
