Ep84 Transcript: Never Stop Learning – Top Takeaways Bill Wittland
Never stop learning. That’s my biggest takeaway I got from episode 83 and my interview with Bill Wittland who went back to school in his seventies. Tune in for some of my other top takeaways.

And now back to our regularly scheduled program.
The thing that struck me the most about Bill’s story was his commitment and passion for learning. Who goes back to school in their seventies? Looking to see what their next venture and their next journey is going to be about. Bill Whitland did exactly that as he went back to Notre Dame’s program to really learn about leadership.
The other thing that struck me was Bill’s willingness to put himself in uncomfortable situations. He was going to be in classes with people who are much younger than him taking things like art or design or things that he had never learned about before, but he was doing it. And I think that’s the secret to remaining youthful, young and engaged with your life is just to push yourself into those situations where you’re going to learn, where you need to be curious, where you need to be open to these new experiences and have vitality in your journey.
The other thing that I really loved about Bill’s story was the way he surrounded himself with really good counsel and good trusted advisors when he was making these big leaps from going from a Catholic priest into his own business, and now going back to school to figure out what the journey would be like from there.
So he had people who would help advise him. He had people who he really trusted to advise him well. And I think that’s really great to make sure that you’ve got that network of people that you can go to and who will give you great advice. We’ll talk a little bit more about that in my Quick Fix Friday in how to find those great networks and groups of people so that you can surround yourself and uplift yourself with awesome people as well.
One of the things that I liked about Bill’s story as well, is that he was putting himself in situations where he would find great counselors, great mentors, great advisors in this group of people who were different than himself, who had different experiences and were all super smart people who. Also pushed themselves into growing and new experiences.
So definitely take a look at episode 83 if you hadn’t had a chance to already. It was awesome.
