Ep132 Transcript: Resilience, Perseverance and Learning – Top Takeaways from Sandra Angelo
Andrea Vahl: Can you make a million dollars as an artist? My guest, Sandra Angelo proves that you can. My top takeaways from my interview with Sandra Angelo are resilience, perseverance and a dedication to learning. Let’s dive into all of those in today’s episode.

And now back to our regularly scheduled program.
So Sandra Angelo had plenty of adversity that she had to overcome. She was making her own path teaching and realize that she wasn’t even that great of an artist. And so she decided to go and learn from the masters.
That was a thread throughout our interview is her dedication to learning.
But once she did that, she found this whole new method of drawing. That really catapulted her artist career and her art was now in demand, she was doing great things with it and she started to teach others this method.
Along the way, her house burned down and destroyed all of her art. She couldn’t be teaching in person anymore with COVID. So she’s had a lot of adversity through the whole career that she’s had.
What I think was amazing is her launching her online courses later in her life, she decided she needed to bring it all online and she had to learn how to do all of that. And so she worked with Jeff Walker’s program and learned all of that and has had amazing success doing that.
The other thing I love that I didn’t even think about was her ability to really charge what she’s worth. A lot of people might think that you have to charge a smaller fee, but Sandra charges some amazing fees to work with her personally. She doesn’t undervalue what she’s doing for people. She really knows the value of what she is teaching and it doesn’t matter.
It’s not, she’s not saying to herself it’s. I’m just teaching art, so I have to charge less. She really understands that and puts a good value on working with her personally. And I always admired her for that. So that’s another little top takeaway that is a bonus in there. But you know, I think that her dedication to learning or her commitment to learning new things has really helped her persevere and get through a lot of the adversity she’s had and made her the success that she is now today. And she’s continuing to put herself out there, reinvent herself and try new things and know that she has to position things in different ways with the changes in the world out there.
So, that was a big takeaway that I had is just continually dedicating yourself to learning and just having that resilience to move through everything. And having the persistence to just keep going, she has had amazing success as an artist. She has so many accomplishments, students all over the world huge press about her art.
And I think if you are looking to be an artist and have a mindset like artists don’t make any money or artists can’t reach a bigger population, definitely go back and listen to Sandra’s episode and get inspired.
