Ep108 Transcript: Living Intentionally – Top Takeaways from Tina Brandau

June 7, 2023

Are you living with intention? That’s one of the top takeaways I got from my interview with Tina Brandau. She got a second chance at life and was able to really recreate and examine what she was doing so that she could live in full intention. Listen in to my top takeaways.

Hello Dreamers. Welcome to the Late Starters Club, giving you the inspiration mindset and tools you need to start something midlife and beyond. Remember, it’s never too late to follow your dreams.

In episode 107, I talked to Tina Brandau, who was hit by a tree while on a run, and she had to relearn how to walk, how to talk, everything. She got a second chance at life and how amazing to come back from that kind of injury and recreate your life and realize what you want to do differently.

I don’t know if you’ve ever had a near death experience. I personally have not. I’ve had a couple of close, almost accidents, but I’ve been really lucky. So how do we cultivate this intention into our own life?

Maybe it is about just taking time to examine how we’re living and how we really want to show up. Maybe it’s about journaling. Maybe it’s about really sitting with our discomfort when we’re not feeling like things are going right and realizing what is wrong and do I need to create a 2.0 or a 3.0 version of myself and work towards that?

Tina was given a gift in the fact that she was able to have a clear delineation of when she recreated and reinvented herself, but the fact that you have this experience allows you to see how short life is and how precious it is. And one thing I’ve always admired about Tina, as I have gotten to know her in this past couple of years that we’ve been connected, is her willingness to promote what she is doing and to really amplify what she is doing out in the world. When her book came out, I saw her promotion all over, and I think it’s probably because she can see the preciousness of life and say, “Hey, while I’m here in this short amount of time I have on Earth, I am going to amplify what is important to me. I’m going to shout it. I’m going to promote it. I am going to get that out into the world because I know tomorrow is not guaranteed.”

We have an amazing ability to, to reinvent ourselves. We are so lucky that we can change what we’re doing. We can work towards something new. And so if what you’re doing right now isn’t giving you excitement and passion and fire, then maybe it’s time to reinvent yourself and come up with a 2.0 version of you or 5.0 or whatever version you might be on.

And I am definitely feeling like I am working towards some new big things with my comedy, and I don’t know what it’s going to look like it’s messy right now. I can’t see what’s going to happen with it, but I’m working towards it anyway. It’s not like some instant upload that’s going to happen in this world. It takes time to reinvent.

And with Tina, she had to take all that time to relearn things, to learn how to walk, and so that has given her an incredible knowing of being able to achieve whatever she wants to achieve, or at least work towards it and realize that it’s going to be messy, it’s going to be hard, but it’s going to be worth it.

So that was a big takeaway from Tina, and I think that lesson can really inspire all of us. So if you haven’t had a chance to go back and listen to episode 107, Definitely go do that right now. It was great and we had a lot of fun listening at to the end for my botched intro of her, but my message to you is just live with intention. Maybe it’s time to reinvent yourself and maybe sit with what you want the next 10, 20, 30 years of your life to really look like.
