Are you getting ready to do your first comedy open mic? Great! I have 5 tips to help you make the most of your experience!

1. Visit the open mic first to get the lay of the land
2. Prepare your set with actual jokes and practice (don’t just wing it) – check out my Tips for Writing a Joke!
3. Get there early to sign up and introduce yourself to the host
4. Don’t invite all your friends and then leave right after your set
5. Move the mic stand behind you and watch for the light
