Ep144: Have a Curious Mind – Top Takeaways from Phyllis Khare

August 30, 2023

Andrea Vahl: How do you go from an entertainer to an online marketing master? In episode 143, I talked to my friend Phyllis and co-author of Facebook Marketing All in One for Dummies, and we dive into her amazing history and what she’s achieved. And we talk about a fantastic new announcement that we have for you. Stay tuned.

Intro: Hello, dreamers. Welcome to the late starters club, giving you the inspiration, mindset, and tools you need to start something midlife and beyond remember, it’s never too late to follow your dreams.

Andrea Vahl: My friend Phyllis has done so much in her career. She is a two time dummies author. She and I were the co founders of social media manager school, a school with, I don’t even know how many students we had towards the end.

I think it was like 1500 or 1700. It was an amazing group of people that we mentored and helped grow their businesses, and it was incredible. We ended up selling that course to AgoraPulse. She has been the marketing brains behind lots of different online courses websites, magazines, she’s helped coaches all kinds of things.

And how did she do it when she started her career in entertainment? She was Miss Phyllis going around and singing at schools and performing and doing all these things. And then she made this giant shift. What Phyllis I don’t think really dove into in the interview as much as I know to be true is that she is one of the most curious people out there.

She loves to learn. She is so good researching things, learning different things and distilling them into some of the best strategies, the best tools, the best things that you might need to promote and market a business online.

So she’s incredible and I think that’s definitely something that really helped her grow this type of business that she has managed to grow. And the fact that she has written two Dummies books is really proof that she loves to do research. She’s really good at writing and distilling down these strategies into a step-by-step format and so that, that is a big takeaway for me is just really be curious, do your research and learn because like Phyllis, I also didn’t have any sort of formal training in marketing and managed to build my business and we both are thought leaders in the space and respected in the community.

We both have spoken all over the world. We spoke together in Barbados. We’ve spoken at different conferences. We’ve had our own retreats that we have done with our social media manager group. And I think that by being curious and making that commitment to learning is really what it takes to start something new and build a business and have that confidence in the business that you are building, because you have looked at the different strategies and the different options out there.

One of the things that I’m super excited about is the fact that Phyllis and I are teaming up again to launch a late starters club mastermind group. We’re doing a few different tracks. You can choose which track might resonate with you.

We’re looking at business builders, business starters, and business burnout. So people who are looking to start something new or grow their existing business, or maybe you’re just burnt out from something that you’ve been doing and you’re not sure what to pivot into and what to do next. We have helped people do all of those things we are both really passionate about getting people into something new and growing it. We’ve helped all of our students and members of social media manager school do that. We’ve helped our own individual clients do that. And we really know the strategies that work and we are great at getting people on that right path and keeping people accountable.

So if you are curious about the mastermind or one of these tracks and just want to learn more about what it might be about, go to latestartersclub.com/mastermind and just fill out the form to show us your interest. We’ll get back in touch and see if it’s the right fit for you. We’re excited to work with these small groups of people and change people’s lives, and we would love the opportunity to work with you.

Outro: Hope that was helpful and make sure you grab the free guide top tools for late starters on the website at late starters club. com and let’s turn dreaming into doing.
